Saint Margaret of Antioch

Saint Margaret is one of the the most famous early Christian martyrs and was especially popular throughout the Middle Ages. She has been honored for centuries as a model of courage and faith. Her mother died when she was young, and she was raised by a Christian nurse. She dedicated her life to Christ, choosing to remain a virgin. A Roman governor became attracted to her and proposed marriage. When Margaret refused because of her Christian faith and her commitment to Christ, she was imprissoned and tortured. She is loving named after a special friend, Peggy, who lovingly delivered two litters with two days.
