Archangel Raphael is one of the most widely honored archangels in Jewish and Christian traditions, especially known as a healer, protector, and guide. Raphael is a central figure in the Book of Tobit, where he appears in human form as a companion named Azariah. He guides Tobias on a journey, helps heal Tobit's blindness, and protects Tobia. Raphael is traditionally associated with healing and physicians, travelers and pilgrims, the sick and hose seeking recovery, protection during journeys. He is often depicted holding a staff (symbol of a traveler), a fish (connected to the healing story in Tobit), or a container of healing remedies.
